Designers of contemporary collections often combine flowers with fruits to make their arrangements good enough to eat, an abundance of fragrant sweet peas displayed in a vase full of strawberries give a terrific look to any summer dinner party. Slices of limes and lemons work wonderfully with white roses to give a clean crisp effect. Miniature trees, stripped of their leaves and replaced by single heads of pastel shades of asters provide an interesting focal point for a large room.
There are florists that are amazing flower designers and they don't have much previous experience _ they possess natural talents for creating beautiful designs and receive positive feedback on their design. There are others that require instruction and training before being able to create fabulous designs and receiving the good feedback. For those who fall into the latter case, the designer should seek out and take training classes as well as locating potential mentorship possibilities. Together these will help the person to enhance their skills and increase the amount of good reviews they receive. Also those in this latter category may do best, at least in the beginning, working in a designer position that follows recipes or formulas.
